- ⌘ K — finds any note, todo or link across every project.
- Bring your own AI — optional, off by default. Point AI tools like Claude at a project and ask about your own notes.
- Export — a project as a tidy PDF, or open its folder in Finder.
What is Moment?
Moment is a free note-taking app for macOS that gives every project its own visual canvas. You can mix notes, todo lists, sketches, images and bookmarks on one board, or read the same project as a plain document. It is built by Undefined and runs on Apple silicon and Intel Macs from macOS 13.
Where is my data stored?
On your Mac, as plain Markdown files with the images beside them, in a folder you choose. There is no account and no server. Put the folder in iCloud Drive or Dropbox to sync it, or keep it in a git repository. Everything works offline.
How is it different from a notes app?
Most notes apps are lists of documents. Moment is a canvas per project, closer to a pinboard, with a global shortcut (⌃ Space) to capture a thought from any app. It is deliberately small: no databases, no plugins, no subscriptions.
